Volunteering at Mount Alvernia Academy

"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart."

                                                                                            Elizabeth Andrews

Mount Alvernia Academy welcomes and encourages family participation. The wonderful spirit of cooperation from our parents, grandparents, and friends, and their willingness to share their time and talents, make it possible for MAA to provide your child with an excellent education in a nurturing environment. The success of the school depends on the many contributions and countless hours that parents dedicate to our fundraising efforts. There is nothing more generous than the gift of time and we encourage our families to volunteer, participate in, and attend the various school events or activities. We need your support!

Why Volunteer?

  • It allows you to meet other parents and gain insight into the lives of your children and their classmates.
  • It may enhance your professional connections and personal friendships.
  • It allows you to become better acquainted with your child’s school.
  • It serves as an expression of your interest in, and commitment to, your child’s life.

We strongly recommend:

    • That each family volunteer for three events/activities
    • That families who cannot commit to any events, make a cash donation to offset the School's expenses

CORI BACKGROUND CHECKS

All schools in Massachusetts require volunteers to have a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check conducted,  Mount Alvernia Academy is required to submit completed CORI forms to the Archdiocese of Boston each year.  Any information obtained through the background check is shared with the principals of the school only.  Other staff members and parent volunteers are not allowed to access the information.

CORI forms are available in the School's Main Office.  Your form must be submitted in person and a form of identification (e.g., driver's license) must be provided.
